With the results of Travel and Leisure’s annual World’s Best Awards survey out, now’s the time to book your island-hopping vacation.
The survey, which also covers airlines, cruise liners, hotels and more, has announced its reader’s favorite island for 2018, and we think the winner might surprise you.
While returning favorites such as Bali and the Maldives grace the list with their stunning beauty, new entries such as Java in Indonesia make their first appearance.
The islands were voted by thousands of survey respondents and judged based on their natural attractions, activities, restaurants, friendliness, and value for money.
Unsurprisingly perhaps is that six of the world’s 15 best islands are in Asia, where warm oceans, tropical climates, and beautiful-souled people create unforgettable vacations.
Without further ado, these are the 15 best islands in the world.
